Today I had another late get up. I was planning to travel to Portrush early, as it was a 4-hour journey and I wanted to make sure I could get some diesel on the way. I was making this my stop as it was near to Giants Causeway, and I’d booked to visit it the next day. Another reason for my late get up was the fact I’d had a headache all night and still had one in the morning. I used to get headaches quite frequently and I generally put this down to lack of sleep, but I can’t really use that reason while I’m travelling as I have at least 7 hours sleep a night! And generally, the sleep makes the headache better. It had also been a really windy night, which kept waking me up. The morning was drizzly, but also quite pretty with the sun shining through at intervals and glinting on the lake.

The journey to Portrush was fine and there was plenty of places with diesel, but I didn’t get any until I crossed the border, feels cheaper! I had a comfort break when I stopped to refuel and popped to the diner. I was thrilled to see they sold pints of milk, so ordered one with a trifle! I love my milk and drink it regularly; most people I know aren’t too fussed on it. As the table next to me left I noticed they had all had glasses of milk too! And 5 of them were adults, is it an Irish thing?

Tonight’s britstop was a car park in the town. It was a large one and called an Aire, which I’d never heard of before. Short for Aire de service, which are predominantly found in France and Europe, a free or low cost car park for campers. At this one it was 50p per hour and extra for water and waste, purchasing a token to use. I didn’t need these, so was going to pay the 50p ph charge, until a lady pointed out to me that the joining car park was free. It was only cause it had a 2.3m barrier that other campers couldn’t use it. So I took advantage of the free stay.
